The British newspaper The Telegraph has published a ranking of hotels dedicated to the “dolce vita”, featuring iconic destinations such as Bellagio, Tremezzo, and Cernobbio. That’s because, when people in the UK think of La Dolce Vita, the first landscape that comes to mind is often Lake Como.
The Telegraph has created a list of places where you can fully experience la dolce vita — that classic Italian lifestyle made famous by the renowned movie set in Rome. The list features around fifty hotels that perfectly embody this way of life, four of which are located on Lake Como, including two in Bellagio.
The Telegraph is a British institution: founded in 1855, it is one of the last newspapers still printed in the traditional broadsheet format, unlike its competitors that have adopted more compact formats. On its website, the paper has published a list — or rather, a curated collection — of renowned and celebrated hotels, titled:
“The 50 greatest hotels in Italy for a slice of the dolce vita”
Many of the featured hotels are located in Capri, Taormina, Venice, and Naples, but for Lake Como (also known as Lario), four standout hotels made the list:
- Grand Hotel Tremezzo
- Hotel Belvedere
- Villa d’Este in Cernobbio
- Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio
All of them are located on the western shore of Lake Como, except for Villa Serbelloni, which is in Bellagio.
Want to experience a taste of the dolce vita? Visit Lake Como and stay at one of these top hotels!
And if the prices of these luxury hotels seem a bit high, don’t worry — Lake Como offers a wide range of accommodations for every budget. Some are located right on the lakefront, offering spectacular views, while others are set on higher ground, providing breathtaking panoramas of the lake and surrounding mountains. All of them share the same unique atmosphere of la dolce vita that only Lake Como can offer.
